Cathedral Rock Hiking Trail

Cathedral Rock Hike | Sedona Hiking Trail

Best Sedona Hiking Trail: Take us to Church! Cathedral Rock is a short, but strenuous hike that takes hikers to holy views of the Red Rock Country & Coconino National Forest. Cathedral Rock is one of the most photographed areas of Sedona due to its impressive saddle points and towering 4,967 elevation.

The trail starts at the Cathedral Rock trailhead that emerges out of the Back O Beyond Road parking lot. The first section of the trail is very easy, but it quickly becomes more challenging as hikers have to traverse up boulders and narrow switchbacks to the reach summit. It’s recommended to use extreme caution while traversing up and down the trail as sections can be very technical. Additionally, it’s preferred to go early in the AM to find parking in the Back O Beyond Road parking lot as well as to avoid the heat.

The trail literally ends at in the middle of the saddle points, which provide an epic panoramic view of Sedona. There is a narrow ridge that continues past the trail end sign and provides a dynamic photo opportunity.

It’s highly recommended to be in excellent shape while attempting to complete this full hike. Although it’s very short, it takes excellent coordination to traverse up and down the middle section of the trail. Use caution and have fun!
