Sometimes it can be a challenge to find a dog friendly hike in Orange County for your favorite four-legged furry companion. Don’t Bark! Different Parks and hiking trails are open to your best little friend!

Below is a list of OC dog friendly hikes the Go Hike It Team has enjoyed!  

These trails do require leashes for your pets.




Newport Coast Hiking Trail Newport Beach, CA

  • Overview: This hike is an excellent workout for dogs and their owners! The rolling dirt trails overlook Crystal Cove, Newport Coast and the Pacific Ocean.
  • Difficulty: Moderate-Challenging
  • Total Distance: 4-6 miles (round-trip)

Badlands Hiking TrailLaguna Niguel, CA

  • Overview: This short 1-2.5 mile hike has scenic ocean views of Laguna Beach and Dana Point. It’s ideal for a short walks with your dog.
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Total Distance: 1-2.5 miles (round-trip)

Back Bay – Newport Coast Hiking Trail

  • Overview: This hike is perfect for dogs of all sizes and athletic experience, because of its flat terrain. The Back Bay’s trail are dirt on the East side and paved on the West side. Both sections offer scenic view of the water and Back Bay!
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Total Distance: 1-2.5 miles (round-trip)
